Fertility care at JOGG

At JOGG, we don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Every fertility journey is different, and sometimes it’s more emotional than expected. That’s why we give you time to talk about your experience, explain your options clearly, and make decisions together.

We aim to take the pressure out of fertility care – no rushed appointments or revolving door of specialists. You’ll be seen by either Dr Mike Kamara or Dr Barton Smith, who take the time to build a relationship with you and understand your story.

Our goal is to make fertility care feel human, supportive and honest. We’re not here to overwhelm you – we’re here to help you figure out the next step.

Your first fertility appointment at JOGG

Your first visit is all about understanding where you’re at and what you’ve already tried. We’ll ask about:

  • Blood tests (for hormones, ovarian reserve, vitamin levels etc)
  • Semen analysis
  • Pelvic ultrasound
  • Ovulation tracking
  • Pre-conception screening (genetic, infectious, hormonal)

This gives us a starting point to develop a plan that’s realistic, evidence-based and personal to you.

Infertility treatment Joondalup

Common reasons for fertility struggles

Many of our patients come to us feeling frustrated or unsure about why it’s taking so long. Sometimes there’s an obvious reason, and sometimes it’s more complex. The most common causes of subfertility we see include:

  • Ovulation disorders (e.g. PCOS)
  • Endometriosis
  • Uterine or tubal abnormalities
  • Male factor infertility
  • Lifestyle factors such as smoking, alcohol, BMI or nutrition
  • Mental health and stress, which can affect both decision-making and treatment adherence
  • Age-related decline in egg quality
  • Unexplained infertility

Where possible, we aim to get a clearer picture before moving into any formal treatments.

  • Ovulation induction (using tablets or injections)

  • Luteal phase support (e.g. progesterone)
  • Pre-conception health advice and screening

We’ll also guide you through understanding your fertile window, your test results, and when further steps might be needed.

Working with Fertility North

If IVF or other advanced fertility treatment is recommended like egg or embryo freezing, we work closely with Fertility North, conveniently located within Joondalup Health Campus.

Fertility North is one of Western Australia’s leading fertility clinics, offering a complete range of fertility treatments including IUI, IVF, ICSI, embryo freezing and donor services. Together with the team we will support you through your treatment and often continue to provide gynaecological or pregnancy care alongside your fertility treatment.

This close collaboration means a smooth and supported experience – and no need to retell your story multiple times.

If IVF becomes the right step for you, we’re still part of your team. We help with continuity, answer your questions, and keep your care connected.
