Midwifery-led care through JOGG integrates the art and science of pregnancy, childbirth, and parenthood. Our midwives take into account all aspects of your pregnancy including the emotional, cultural, spiritual, psychological, and physical factors that impact you during this time.

Our multidisciplinary approach ensures that your care addresses the holistic needs of both you and your growing family.

Who is it for?

A family’s pregnancy and circumstances are unique and that’s why we offer obstetrician-led care as well as midwifery-led care at JOGG.
One of the reasons to start midwifery-led clinics is that we want to offer our families choice. Affordability is definitely a term that comes to mind, as well as giving families an alternative to public pregnancy care. It really is a unique concept.

When choosing midwifery-led care all antenatal and postnatal visits are included. The JOGG midwives are endorsed and able to provide you with all of your blood work, ultrasounds and even prescriptions, as they work in collaboration with the obstetricians at JOGG.

“But I don’t have private insurance!”

A pregnancy is not always planned, and even if it was it doesn’t necessarily mean you adjusted your private health cover.

Good news! Here at JOGG we welcome all expecting families, both insured and uninsured.

There is a financial benefit for women who have private health cover, as there is no “gap” when you visit the midwife. There is a $200 access fee, which includes all antenatal care, and 6 weeks postnatal care.

Who is not suitable?

Whether you are a candidate for midwifery-led care or not is typically assessed on an individual basis. There are certain circumstances where obstetrician-led care models are more appropriate, including high-risk pregnancies, pregnancies involving multiples, previous obstetric complications and foetal or maternal medical conditions.

Please come in and have a chat with our midwives and obstetricians to help you make a decision on what is best for you and your family.

Navigating appointments for low-risk pregnancy

For a low-risk pregnancy, you will see the midwife every month until you are 28 weeks, then every 3 weeks until 37 weeks and after that once a week until your baby is born. After childbirth, you will see the midwife every week for 6 weeks to check you and your baby.

Here is a typical outline of your appointments schedule for a low-risk pregnancy, with the exception of the appointments noted to be seen with the obstetrician.

Connected Maternity Care is here!

Connected Maternity Care makes it possible to provide some of your care from the comfort of your home or place of work.
Imagine being busy at work or juggling several things at the same time and still needing to travel in traffic, find parking etc to make it to your appointment. Connected Maternity Care allows you to record and track your baby’s heart rate from the comfort of your own home.

When choosing Connected Maternity Care you will receive a tine device called HeraBEAT, which uses the same ultrasound doppler technology available in our rooms. It connects with an app that prompts you to complete tasks that are part of your personalised care plan.
We have access to these data and can adjust the care plan if necessary. You will still need to visit us but not as many times or via a video link, giving you peace of mind whilst not having to come in for as many appointments.
